What's crazy about this situation, is that the cafe owner did NOTHING! about it...

NOTHING!...

As a woman, what am I supposed to do when someone is disrespectful, or rude or flat out verbally abusive? I was concerned about leaving 'cause the guy seemed so crazy he'd probably follow me...and after being called a Bitch repeatedly by this absolute stranger...just for being a woman!...the owner came over to me and asked me to move!??...Anyways, this all ends with some guy coming into my defense and telling the crazy guy if he didnt stop calling me names and harassing me, that he would call the police on him again...AGAIN!.lol and my brother showing up and saving the day by cussing the guy out till he shut up.

All I can say is "wow"...

So I was watching tv last night...and I saw a commercial for a new food product that disturbed me.

What's become of our generation that they had such massive response to the idea of making instant mashed potatoes even more gross.

Tell me who wants mashed "potatoes" that come pre peeled and cut, and that you then have to throw in the microwave and "steam"....Nasty......o, and then open the bag and add milk and butter...omg..yuck

So I went to my very first Raptor Game the other day....lol...
I had a wicked time....at first I was a little shy to cheer and stuff, but by half time I was like any other fan in the crowd...popcorn, chocolate and all....
Can't wait to go to a Knicks Game when I get to NYC... (I'm going to NY for about 2 months beginning Nov.15th....!)

I got a lot of great responses from my old "throwback" pics...the ones that showed me in highschool, hanging out with my girls (I WAS SUCH a tomboy!)...SO I thought I'd post some more old ( and funny) pics from baaaack in the day.
I remember doing this photoshoot for an international "weave" company!..lol...I had my face on Weave and Wig packages all over the world. Even though the photos were horrible!!! and the pay even worse! I was so proud of myself! :)

I took a few days off after the Stylus Awards (& the after party!) to reflect and relax with good friends...I'm back and I feel Refreshed!!
I've been trying to work on my ability to be patient..I've always HATED waiting! and I always plan ahead like ten steps...I book my schedule even 5 months ahead!..So anyways, a good friend suggested I take up meditating...Wish me well! I'm going to try it out.lol..I'll let you guys know how it goes..

As you know, I LOVE to cook! (something about seeing ppl enjoy their food and watching them finish everything on their plate makes me really happy!..lol) and in the past few days I've been on a rampage in the kitchen!! :)

I use to be a Tomboy!!! So What!? LOL

Thought I'd give you guys some insight on where I came from..I started highschool in the heart of the city and then moved to the hood to finish up..
I have a big brother and he's taught me so much about life..he showed me the ropes at an early age.
I use to ride the subway train with my friends, and we'd stay on it all day..and go from one end of the city to the other...people watching..singing...laughing...
I've learned that people don't really change...what you've always seen in someone will almost always remain. But people can control what sides of themselves they want to portray and what sides of themselves they will eventually succumb to.

It's up to you to really figure someone out.

When I look at these pics, I see a young girl who wasn't looking to conform. One who wanted so desperately for the world to see her face and to read her words. She knew she wouldn't give in to weakness-only love, destiny and passion.

She would try her absolute best-but would never settle.

I'm so proud of where I've come from, where I am and where I'm going...*tear* :) I'm WORKING HARD!!!!

I hope you guys like these shots from my trip to Palawan...We took a speed boat out one day and Sammy (the photographer) captured these shots while we were on the island of Baoyan.
It's now my favorite place in the world.

My Philippines trip is amaaaazing so far. Since I've been nominated for a Stylus Award-I'm coming home early!! You heard me! EARLY! YAAAY! kind of yay....

So I'm out in the Philippines..*CEBU This Week to be exact* and it's so so so so beautiful.. Everyone here has been amazing..I'm learning all about being a Foley Artist..and I'm working for a film production company and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!
Just a JOKE but an example of what a Foley Artist would do on a slightly different type of film set...LMAO!

So far I've been a girl diving into a pool...I had to dive into the pool like, 30 times..AND the sound of me splashing into the pool, made it into the movie!!!!! APPLAUSE! *Crowd Screaming* LOL ;)

I dove for a starfish, swam topless in the ocean-No could see me..lol, and ate fresh lobster on a little island-made in the villager's hut...Beauty in life--in its true form..

I'm here to shoot some promotional photos for an upcoming single.., as well as do a shoot that'll be getting filmed by Asian Fashion Television..kind of cool.
Anyways, I'll be here for 8 weeks..well...7 weeks from today (and today for me is 12 hrs ahead from what it is back home-in Toronto...so today is actually tomorrow :)
I MISS HOME ALREADY!....but this is an amazing experience..and I'm glad to have been selected for the opportunity.

I've gotten some beautiful artwork and letters from you guys in the past few weeks and I'm so glad to have your support! (I'll post some soon!!)
Please keep them coming as I'm a bit HOMESICK! and it definitely always makes me feel better to hear from you guys!.....

So I had a hectic day 'cause I had to be up early to shoot for "TRUE Magazine" today...

(it's 4:22am so I REALLY mean yesterday)..

It went well but it was crazy cause we had to get through soo many looks & we were pressed for time
(I had to run home quick & get changed-then run over to Hamilton to host a party!..which I JUST got home from..)

I had a loooooong day today, and it's almost done!! (2:11am right now..). I have a photoshoot in the morning (later this morning..lol) for "TRUE Magazine" based out of California, and I'm doing the cover! as well as a 6-8 page spread inside...so that's going to be fun. He’s currently collaborating with the likes of Brian Michael Cox-Voyce Alexander has come a long way from his humble Toronto roots..You may have seen him working alongside B.Cox & Day 26 on this season’s “Making The Band”. He’s extremely talented..He writes, produces and sings..and OH BOY can he sing! *pause*
I’m ready for a full length album from Voyce..His radio single “Intoxicated” ft. Kardinal Official just wasn’t enough for me, but it was a great introductory record…
Give it to us Voyce!…I know he has some craziness up his sleeve….Time will tell what Voyce and B.Cox are cooking up!!!

Ms. Davis’ single “Sometimes” was on crazy high rotation this past summer….and well into the fall, and I’d hate to forget to mention that “Sometimes” also held the OTA Megacity Countdown’s #1 spot for 4 WEEKS STRAIGHT! (As of the date of this writing, that’s a record she shares with only Untitled-see below)….
She’s one of the most talented artists I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and I’m EAGERLY anticipating her debut album “Live, Love, Learn”…With a Fall ‘08 release scheduled, there’s no doubt in my mind that it’s going to be a GAURANTEED CLASSIC!

Bishop ‘The Gambling Man’ Brigante is no stranger to staying on top of his game. You may have heard his collaborations with fellow Canadian emcee Choclair, and hip hop legends Sticky Fingaz and MC Lyte. With such an impressive resume of accomplishments in the rap game, people are excited about the upcoming release of 'The Life of a Gambler', which will feature several collaborations with other hip hop high rollers. The legendary Snoop Dogg is a confirmed guest on the album, and the infectious first single 'It's Fo' Twenty' features the hook master himself, Nate Dogg. Watch for Bishop Brigante to raise the stakes and give the international hip hop game a run for its money!

“The Coldwar” (hosted by one of NYC’s finest-DJ SuperStar Jay) was his follow-up mixtape to his 2006 release “The Re-up”….You also heard him featured on my debut single “Want It”…
But I hear his album is set for an '08 release…as well as the video for his first Official single "Era What's Good". If that’s true, then we should be in for something crazy! cause JD’s album release has been anticipated by his fans for a…WHILE. Also, look out for his upcoming mixtape release "The Coldwar 2" which I'm personally looking forward to..The 1st ColdWar mixtape was a favorite of mine in '07.
GO Era, GO Era, GO!... & I wouldn’t mind hearing some more of that weird techy sh*t he’s been performing around the city.

His mixtape “Comeback Season” is a START to FINISH listen for any Drake fan. There was some oldies but goodies, as well as some new joints that I thoroughly enjoyed...Looking forward to an album from the actor that plays “Jimmy” on Degrassi: The Next Generation (Should I mention it’s the highest rated tv teen soap on tv in AMERICA!)
Can he really keep his streak going?...and if so…Everyone better step their game up!

With his well received independant release of his LP "MEMOIRS OF A PLAYBWOY", JDiggz introduced Canada to his suave hypnotic flow and with a ‘08 Juno nomination under his belt, JDiggz keeps surprising us. Not only rapping but producing his own beats, JDiggz and older brother Scotch Butta run a production team called Starbwoyz Music. They have produced several CHR Top 40 records for local artists such as: Melanie Durrant & Nate Skeeze. His video for “I Just Wanna Party’ was dope (& featured none other then the previously mentioned Voyce Alexander). Did I forget to mention he's a Roots Canada model?

His B-Boy-next-door image secured him a gig as the face of Athletes World/Bata Canadas recent The World Is Yours national ad campaign. He is also the first artist to emerge from the Foundation Creative Group; a loose Toronto-based collective of renowned producers, commercial graphic designers, emcees and artist managers. As certain strains of contemporary commercial rap music continue to eat themselves, Rochester's resolve to counter that approach is strengthened, with soulful pro-woman numbers like Priceless (a song he admits to writing as a response to seeing negative imagery of women all day on TV), I'm looking forward to hearing what he has in store for us in '08...

He’s the Don of the Mixtape game in our MegaCity…With over a hundred mixtapes featuring his single “I Bang” alone and a catalogue that resembles 50 Cents early years, Richie Sosa is on his “Grrizy”…His record “The Dutch” hit the OTA Megacity Countdown (Phat shout to Rez Digital & Ty Harper for being originators in the scene) and hit it HARD!…He rested on the #1 spot for 3 weeks and he followed that up with a video for “Count Money” ft. Remo Da Rapstar…Things are looking good over at CMC….!!

So I’m on Facebook.com…just looking around…accepting friends, blah blah…and I get a note from a young girl…very pretty…
This what she said and below it is my response..

This summer ur name was ran thru the dirt. i wanna kno how u dealt with it cuz im goin thru the same thing and i am no where close to the status that ur at ... gettin there but not quite there yet.

ne ways im sick of ppl tellin me "oh if they're talkin about u then ur doin sumthin rite" but wat happens when its jus plain slander and lies. ne ways didnt wanna make this long jus wanna kno how u handled that?..maybe ur way is good for me maybe not but i would like 2 kno”

My Response:
“Hey *****,

I feel u mama....it can def get hard when ur online and reading about yourself and its all untrue!!...

BUT- I love this industry, I love it because it lets me do ME every single day...

Given the hard work that I put in..I'm now at a point where I don't have to work a day job..I can make music, go to dance and band rehearsals, take meetings, make phone calls and respond to emails like this one-EVERY DAY!...

Granted-when you're an attractive female such as yourself...and you're in the industry and you're drowning yourself in work, it may seem discouraging to read blogs that say you're a bad person , or a drug addict, or promiscuous, etc....BUT is it true?...

If what you hear about yourself is true, then you have a problem!!...

You need to clean your act up!....

But if it's not, then it'll eventually fade like all rumours do, and new ones will pop up...that's the sacrifice you make by being in the entertainment industry.

My life is put out there for people to pick apart. That includes my appearance, my friends, my love life and my mistakes..Everything!So its a big trade off... People will analyze me and state their opinions.. PUBLICALLY!..

BUT the trade is I don't have to do what someone tells me everyday, I get to do ME, and you need to be confident in who you are!...I know who I am, what I do and where I'm going and thats what makes me strong enough to stand up to the lies that are out there about me...

I-AM-ME

and I am proud of where I've come from. I've worked incredibly hard to get to where I am now and I've never sacrificed my self respect to get here.

I've built a strong team around me as well....It's my protection from the outside world..If people's judgments or assumptions about me, get to be too much - I talk to my team for support...They remind me why I'm doing this on the days that I just want to be a 9-5er...They remind me that it's all worth it and that it's my Personal Legend that I'm chasing..(read "The Alchemist"!!! It's an amazing book...& also read "The Secret" or watch the movie....You are the same person you were 5 years ago, except for the books that you've read and the friends you've made!)

I hope that helps answer your question..And I didn't realize my name had been "ran thru the dirt" this summer..lol. Maybe because I was busy living out my dreams!!

I traveled to L.A, New York, Atlanta & Jamaica to record my music and shoot for publications..I got my debut single "Want It" spinning on high rotation in Toronto (Top 20!!..Thank You Toronto!), Philly, Germany, Poland, Spain & Turks & Caicos, I landed a sponsorship deal with Ed Hardy, signed up to play the lead female role in a movie, Shot for BlackMen Magazine, closed a national ring tone and wallpaper deal with a mobile company in the U.S, and I started working on my album!

When was I supposed to be bothered by judgments and assumptions made by people who "Think" they know me?? ;)

So I've been absent because I've been traveling so much, I just needed to take some ME time!

I needed a breather..!

I travelled between Atlanta, Washington, Virginia, New York and New Jersey for almost the whole month on February!..but now I'm back in Toronto for a few weeks.

Legion of Beats Media~Wow! Its a pleasure to finally catch up with you. I know you have a hectic schedule, and I appreciate you taking the time to sit down and discuss a few things about your music career. But before we do that, let the people know what occupies your time these days?

ANAYA HAYES~Wow... I just released my 2nd single..It's called "LOVE ME". My first single did well, so I was excited to release the 2nd one. This one's much more personal to me..I'm loving the response it's getting so far, and that so many of you relate to it! Keep the notes coming, I appreciate every single one!... I recently signed a mobile content deal in the u.s so now all my American friends can now download my wallpapers as well as voice-tones and ring-tones ("WANT IT" is available). I'm working on my album as well as the next few radio singles...Today, I'm in DC...I just came from ATL and NY..traveling to work with artists, producers and labels. Legion of Beats Media~Alright, we mos def will check it out! It's Valentines, your new single, and you're newly single (wink). What's a guy have to have on his application to get with you?

ANAYA HAYES~hahahaha. hmmmm.. first of all, I'm not "newly single"..lol.. A guy needs to first and foremost be Smart!..He needs to be able to keep up with me and keep my mind interested..soo important. He has to be Honest..Very very honest, because I'm a straight forward woman-when I like you..I'm an open book. And he needs to be supportive of my career-that's not easy to find, trust me!...Guys tend to be insecure when it comes to my work and my travelling.

Legion of Beats Media~ (takes application notes) How did you begin your music career? And what steps where taken to reach this point in your career?

ANAYA HAYES~I knew I wanted to make music when I was 6 years old....I sat there on the edge of my bed, listening to a walkman..lol...with "Vision of Love" inside...and I just knew. I started taking steps towards it when i was about 18. I had a music manager, but that was a failed attempt..so I put music on the back-burner for a while, to pursue other interests, because I didn't have the connects or the knowledge of the industry yet. But I'm back in full force now!...lol

Legion of Beats Media~Who are your non-musical influences?

ANAYA HAYES~I think the people that influence me are those that have pursued their lifelong dreams, their "personal legends" and succeeded. People like Oprah..The GREATS. People who live life trying to fulfill their destiny.

Legion of Beats Media~Your new single Love Me, tell us about it? Who was involved with it (songwriting/production/recording and mixing)?

ANAYA HAYES~The record was produced and mixed by August. HE'S DOPE!...A great talent, he's a singer, songwriter and producer. Check him out at http://www.myspace.com/augustrigo. Legion of Beats Media~What is the song about? What life experiences did you endure that relate to the song?

ANAYA HAYES~The song was very personal to me..I wrote it for anyone that's been lied to and (has) had their heart broken..it always seems that those that hurt you, or don't appreciate you at the time you are together, always realize what they've lost... in the future..and that's what "you're gunna love me, just wait and see" means. I didn't intend for it to be a jab at anyone, it was just a natural expression of words..and it turned into a great song!

Legion of Beats Media~ Yes, it is a great song! Your last single, "Want it," how was it received by the listening audience?

ANAYA HAYES~You guys showed so much love! It got requested until it hit #12 on the Top 20 most requested songs on Flow, voted into the Top 10 on WBLK and it stayed in high rotation for almost 6 months!...You guys also voted it to #5 on the OTA Megacity Countdown. It got played in rotation on radio stations in Turks & Caicos, Spain, Germany, Poland & Japan. That made me soo proud! I appreciate the support from my city more then anything else.

Legion of Beats Media~Yep, it was a great single, even inspired us to do a remix for it. Do you play any instruments? What was the first tune(s) you learned/sang?

ANAYA HAYES~The first song I remember knowing all the words to, was Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You"..When I was a kid, I use to get up and sing it on the bus and people would clap..lol..I can play the cello but I don't remember the last time I played-I think bass and the cello are sexy. lol

Legion of Beats Media~ (takes more note..."bass and cello") Do you come from a musical family?

ANAYA HAYES~Kind of..My uncle is a very famous international artist from Egypt, he's like the Michael Jackson of Egyptian music. I think there's probably a lot of people who are musical in my family who keep it under wraps because of culture or religious beliefs..My brother can sing too..but shhh..don't tell anybody.

Legion of Beats Media~ Lol. Which famous artist do you admire? Why? Which local artist do you admire? And Why?
ANAYA HAYES~Beyonce and Usher for being all around seasoned spokes-people, artists and performers... I love to know that people are grinding and pushing hard for what they love. It's not easy to earn a blessing like being able to do what you love every single day...so I admire those that are living or working towards that.Local, talented, upcoming artists such as Kim Davis, Voyce Alexander, Set2, JD Era, Drake, Hakeem & Untitled.

Legion of Beats Media~ How do you balance your music with your other obligations?

ANAYA HAYES~Planning, Strategy and Passion.Plan for the worst and definitely for the best, Strategies for efficiency and the biggest possible reaction/profit and put your heart and Passion into every single day-ALL DAY! You have to LIVE this type of job in order to succeed. Balance is key but ambition and persistence are necessary.

Legion Of Beats Media~You definitely have the recipe for success. I advise others to take notes, too. What's in your I~pod/player/Whip these days?

ANAYA HAYES~hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Canadian MUSIC!....like Kim Davis' "Sometimes", Drake's "Comeback Season" and JD Era's "the Coldwar" & a bunch of others...as well as some classics...the old stuff I love-Mariah, Etta, Stevie, Prince, Janet, Aaliyah, Sade...list goes on..O, and Britney, Jay Z, Lupe Fiasco, Alicia Keys and Keyshia Cole's new albums..

ANAYA HAYES~That's tough....favorite song of 2007...?.....hmmmmmmm... I'm undecided at press time!

ANAYA HAYES~I originally had my bet on the Giants..Cause they beat our Cowboys...but then I changed my mind, just cause-and I was wrong!...Lesson-Don't doubt the underdog!

I got home late last night so I thought I'd write in now and let you guys know what I did yesterday...hmmm...
I had DANCE CLASS!....It's soooooo fun :)....I can't wait to know all my routines and sh*t..lol...so I can show all of you what I'm working wit!..lol

After class and after a brief stopover or two..We headed over to the studio to get in another Intense session!...I went to sleep @ 2:30am (the earliest I've been to bed all month!..lol)

I Watch Movies When I Don’t Wanna’ Work

I find myself playing catch up when it comes to movies!....
I usually don’t have the time but lately I’ve slowed down on hosting events and so the nights that I’m not recording-
I’m at home watching movies!!

Some of my favorites this month are:

“The Great Debaters”

I have a wonderful bootleg copy..lol…and it’s become one of my favorite movies..

It’s moving and it has a simplicity to it…It’s not over done or over thought. Great film.

“I Am Legend”

Another great quality bootleg, I LOVED this movie..I actually went to the premier at the theater first (cause it’s worth it) and I had to get it for my collection..

Check it out if you’re One of the Two people who would miss a Will Smith movie!

The part where the alien thingies trick Will into falling into their booby trap.. PRICELESS!

“King of New York”

Thought the title was appropriate since I’m moving to New York in 125 days!! (More on That LATER)…

-I had a dance rehearsal yesterday..IT WAS DOPE!..I loved it!!...But I have so much to learn...
I'm looking forward to next tuesday though...(I have classes every tuesday and wednesday now!) :)

I just got out of the studio...just got home.

Dance Classes Begin!!

This industry, the "entertainment industry" (specifically in Toronto) is a funny place to be....
Like any group of co-workers you have your supporters, your shit talkers and your competition....but my feelings are that in this group, we lack educators.

"We're. Like. A. Really. Bad. High School"

Now I'm not saying there aren't any teachers..! (Special acknowledgment to those who have BEEN in the game, and continue to find ways to give back!...D10, Glen Prendergast, Glen Lewis, 40/40, Major, Luther Brown, DubJ, Savan, August, Maxumus, Justin over @ Flow, etc)..BUT what I'm saying is that there are few out there that make a conscious-continuous-HARD GRINDING-effort to maintain a steady stream of industry/artist education! (Another special shout out to OTA Live for being a consistent example of what WE NEED in this industry).

What's up with sites like RealTalkTO?...I appreciate the effort..but Im not impressed with the content!...Tell us if you don't like a record, tell us if you're loving an artist right now...we can make up our own minds either way!...But don't spoon feed us two sentences on an up & comer, leaving us with no more then we came in with!...That's my personal opinion...I use to check that site all the time, so "big ups" to them for the promo work..(RealTalkTO is currently up for sale..anyone want a dope domain name??)....

I'm feeling sites like www.Connectid.Net and www.HipHopCanada.com (as lame as the threads can be sometimes)...

And my opinion on the bloggers and websites that I've heard write tabloid type articles about me? A Big Fat..."EH!"

I'm all for a journalists that can do some research and find out embarrassing stories or something, but personally, I can't stand sites that MAKE UP EVERYTHING!..(& NO, I will NOT plug those sites...Google "gossip" you lazy ppl!..haha)
I know it's entertainment...but as one website owner wrote to me and said... "We've gotten more hits this week with your story, than we've had all year"-I HATE sites that Lie for user hits!! WEAK!! BLAHBLAH RUBBISH!! I don't enjoy reading made up stories about people...I want REAL DIRT! So go do your research you scummy paparazzi wannabe's!! Have some respect for your industry! (LOL...Im actually sparkling, so good luck finding anything on me..har har..LMFAO..)

Thats my opinion on all that....
